2018 A to Z Challenge… (my way) ;-)

“If it was a worthwhile fight, it didn’t matter who won; some good was sure to come of it.”  Richard Brooks

“Conflict is the gadfly of thought.  It stirs us to observation and memory.  It instigates to invention.  It shocks us out of sheep-like passivity.”  John Dewey

“Out of opposition, a new birth.”   Carl G. Jung

I seriously debated in participating in this year’s A to Z Challenge, but if you heard a crashing sound that was my head smashing into the wall.  I went so far as to pick a subject to write about “happiness,” and then I found words for every letter of the alphabet relating to happiness.  But, did I step forward… No, I chickened out.

However, I think I’m going to do my own version of the Challenge as “happiness” is critical for my sanity.  This is where Helen Keller’s quote comes to my mind. “When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”

Due to life’s challenges, I feel like I fell into a mud pit of quick-sand and can’t get out.  The fact is that I need to put my best foot forward and start moving.  So with that rant, this is what I have learned about happiness!

    Great idea! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Love it, Gwynn. You had every reason in the world to opt out, but here you are. Happiness, oh, so important a topic. Speaking of which, so happy to see you going for it.
And here are a few lines, just for you:
    I’ve lived a life that’s full
I’ve traveled each and every highway
But more, much more than this
I did it my way 🙂

LOL!! Why am I not surprised to hear Frank Sinatra here? 😉

Here I went to ALL the trouble to think of words that had something to do with happiness, yet I STILL could not see writing a post every day. However, MAYBE this is a start provided I can think of more instances of my crazy life. Since my daughter and her family moved to Spokane I can’t use the girls’ crazy experiences to write about. Then my son’s life is pretty traumatic with his wife’s extreme anxiety, so I don’t see his kids either. I DO need to get myself out into life so I can find something to inspire me to write. God forbid… I MAY have to make up stories! LOL!!

Thanks for being a great friend and taking the comment to read and comment. I was just reading my posts from the 2014 A to Z Challenge and actually enjoying them… so HOW do I find that spot in my life again?? Ok, now you are going to tell me to write a mystery! 😉

All stories you may tell are wonderful Gwynn, whether real-life or made up but your real ones are the best! Delight in walking the waterfront and the bounding pit bull makes a very amusing in my mind! You have a wonderfully Descriptive way with words!

    • Gwynn Rogers says:

Thank you, Susan, for visiting! Yes, you would laugh as there are two Great Danes that recognize me and this large, strong, and exuberant Pit Bull that enjoys my pets too, so when these dogs see me, they literally drag their owners over to me so that the dogs can enjoy my love. However, yesterday, as I mentioned, the Pit Bull’s female owner is tiny and she truly nearly slid over to me on her tummy as the dog was extremely strong as the dog said. “Oh hurry up, there is that woman who LOVES to pet me. I want my loves for the day!”

Actually, I do have some funny stories about the dogs I visit at the waterfront. The dogs have crazy personalities just like us people. FUN!! Have a delightful day. I do look forward to your delightful posts.

A great theme for the A-Z Challenge. Thanks for sharing all those words! I agree, laughter is good medicine. We all need a dose of it daily!
